Since 2014, Railtown 1897 has played host to THE POLAR EXPRESS, a Christmas themed Holiday train experience based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg. The hour and five minute train ride serves Hot Chocolate to all passengers, while the classic tale of The Polar Express is read aloud on the way to the North Pole.
This special holiday event requires a large number of staff and volunteers with many positions available, and we are always looking for new recruits! If you are interested in helping to bring this magical story of Christmas to life, be sure to contact the event staff of the California State Railroad Museum Foundation to get started!
